Mk1 vRS Milltek

Featured Replies

Anyone on here got a resonated milltek cat back on their car?

I'm thinking of putting one one mine but definately don't want a non resonated one, there just too " droney" for my liking

To be honest the resonated one is not much louder than stock.

I have been thinking about changing mine for a straight through mid section.

That's what I'm after ideally, I don't want it much louder than stock. I know they're not cheap but I'm starting to do a bit of ground work for stage 2.

Where are you in donny because i have a milltek non resonated on mine and my parents live not far from donny if you want a ride in mine to see how loud it is

I started with the resonated :) was still neat and sounded ok with the hammer down

Then bought the non resonated section :)

Love it !!!

Wheres my non resonated fly by video :D

Its on here somewhere

I actually find it fine :) its rather nice, it mainly comes into its own when the right foot goes deep :D

The Miltek on my VR6 just droned at 70 :(

Ooooh tempting, I'm in Conisbrough Mr Volvomeg

Eeek ... I cant even offer as it seems like 180+ miles away bud :(

Sorry couldnt be of more help

Non-Resonated on mine, i bought it that way and was a bit worried about it as i had expectations of it making all sorts of boy racer booming noises.

I found it to be a lot more subtle that i expected actually, at tickover and when bimbling about it makes a nice rumbly burble, but put your boot down and it sounds properly sporty, rather than Halfords sporty. With that said, i doubt i would buy it with my own money, just lucky it was already on the car.

I think it'll be my next investment after I come back from holiday, then h&r -20mm springs and a Lcr front spoiler, then find out if I can get off the estate with the speed bumps lol. Keep dropping the odd " does that sound like its blowing to you " speech to swmbo......

I've just had a cat back proflow fitted at LTC in Brierley hill, fantastic work and is not droney at all! They eliminated the front silencer for me in the process. It's just straight through on the mid section now with a small rear silencer! I also kept it at stock 57mm diameter. I think you guys will find the Milltek drones because it is larger than standard diameter, 63.5mm!

I to have a proflow exhaust and is a great replacement over the stock exhaust and makes a lush noise without been boy racer and even tho they warned me about droning I have no droning at all only downside is due the bore pipe size a sports/decat is unlikely to fit but if u ain't bothered by that and just want a replacement on a tight budget get proflow

Hey VRS180t,

You will fit a decat no problem if you want one!, the many decats available on ebay are designed to work with the standard system, all the decats actually step down in size to stock diameter. The only decat that is too big for stock is the Milltek one as it steps down to 63.5mm.

The Proflow system is fantastic value for money, cost me £200.. Fitted! and I watched them fit it myself in the workshop! That £200 + the decat works out cheaper than buying a Milltek catback on its own. No disrespect to anyone who has bought a Milltek system, but anyone looking to purchase one now must have more money than sense...and I honestly believe you will see very little gain if any with the Milltek over any other full stainless system.

When the Millteks were new these cars were still selling for £7000+ so spending that kind of money on them wasn't a problem. Same situation with the Forge intercoolers. I think some of these companies need to think long and hard about their parts prices bearing in mind how cheap the cars are nowadays.

so if for say i wanted a sports cat aslong as its a 2.5inch bore size it will be fine ? as the proflow stock bore size which has always puzzled me how you would fit a bigger bore decat/sports cat over the stock bore of the exhaust

Very true, this is what has stopped me going any further with mine.
