Electric Windows - Strange Issue!

Featured Replies

Evening all,

I got into the car today and the passenger window won't operate from both electric door buttons! You can't hear any noise from the motor or clicking etc. Do you think it's possibly a dead fuse? If so, what amp fuse do I need?

Secondly, my drivers side window won't open or close automatically with the one click/push process now! It's still working barring this feature, but is coincidental that it's just started happening when the passenger window stopped working!

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

I had a similar problem - after the Oswestry Skoda dealer needlessly replaced the motor - and it still didn't work - I fixed it by putting a new fuse in (and got a full refund from the dealer). The existing fuse was both dirty and thin - a new fuse fitted better and cured the problem

I have exactly the same problem, where is this 25 amp fuse located please?

In the main fuse box at the end of the fascia

In the main fuse box at the end of the fascia

Thanks!

Yea-up that's the problem ok, I went out and moved all the 25 amp fuses around and the windows started working again, not the full function sadly but I think new fuses will cure the problem. Thanks for the help guys!

Electrically operated power windows do not operate

If the battery of the car has been disconnected and then reconnected, the electrically

operated power windows do not operate. The system must be activated.

Proceed as follows in order to re-establish the function:

• turn the key in the lock of the driver door into the closing position and hold it

there until all of the windows are closed,

• release the key,

• Once again insert the key and turn it into the closing position for about 3

seconds.

If that ^ doesn't get the auto up/down windows working again, with the ignition on and the windows fully up, hold the button in the up position for a couple of seconds. You should here a click from the motor. They should now go up/down automatically as they used too. :)

Does the passenger door also have the electric window one-touch facility?

Only from drivers side switch on my vrs can I get one touch use of passenger window

No - safety feature I suppose - the driver's supposed to be the responsible one - fat chance with most of you lot!

Hi folks.

I've tried the above and the passenger window still isn't working. When inserting the key into the driver side lock and holding it in the unlock position the passenger window remains locked.

Could there be an issue with the motor on the passengers door?

Thanks,

Ajaz

Right I have a VRS SE. All windows working.

Now I know the electric windows will shut if I put the key in the drivers door and turn the key to the lock postion. But like so, I cannot lock/close the windows using the keys if I had left them open.

1. If the windows do close with with key in lock positon does this mean I have the ability to do so with the keys?

2. If so, how to I fix this issue as the key lock doesn't do close my windows...?

Do they open if you hold the key in the unlock position?

Sounds like a dodgy door lock switch.

Phil

Same problem on my '03 Fabia TDI. The wiring loom in the door pillar is corroded. sometimes some switch cleaner from Maplin can sort it, other times you need to get the soldering iron out (as in my case).
