ECU update query

Featured Replies

Had my 10000 miles service yesterday and I reported some rough idling and poor cold starts. My dealer applied a Skoda ECU update for reported engine issues. Just curious who else has had the update and if there is any information on what it actually does?

I've only driven it once so far but only difference I noted was the idle being a lot more steady.

yeah, mines been done, its to cure cold misfires... mine nevr misfired but was lumpy when cold... the update smoothed it up, much less lumpy idle when cold now...

I had the ecu update too. Much better in the mornings.

There is a dsg one available too...

:@ ....im due for the 1st service booked on the 18th April(that was there first available time),dealer told me about the update ,i asked him if i can pop in and get the update done before the service and he told me they only do it associated with the service and there is no extrs charge for it ..he called the update a turbosoftware update plus a product improvement(some kind of spare part?) aswell... and he told me that why it is always a good idea to get the service done at a authorised workshop. :wall:

I went to dealers with issue with running rough esp when cold. They didn't update even after i asked as they said no fault came up.

Can they update without a fault code or was the dealer just fobbing me off?

I had no fault code just asked for the update.

I get on with my dealer and all the staff really well, some of them even avoid me in a funny way as I ask too many questions :D

What does the dsg one do? Can't say i've had any of the problems other people have reported with it though.

Hari my check showed the technician didn't find any fault but they still updated as it was available.

That's the recall for the turbo, nothing to do with the vRS stuff mentioned here.

But is is a recall and they should be able to do it anytime and there would never be any charge to yourself.

Technically we shouldn't update an ECU unless instructed to do so by a TPi, Recall or by technical assistance.
