Still Stuck

Featured Replies

Not having any luck with my front wipers. Front washers work. Rear wash and wiper works. No lights on dash.

I have had motor off car and it works fine. I have today had column switch off and it to shows no faults. Under dash check reveals only two relays, both power relays 18 ? x contact and 167 ? fuel pump. Fuses are all checked good but substituted and checked again. 15 and 41. Nothing obvious with the loom. Supply to fuses is good.

Theres a computer board below the dash in a plastic housing. Nice green colour with no brown areas or signs of burn. This is convenience module, yes.(NO. IT'S THE ECM) Supply to plug in this via red/grey from wiper fuse is good.

No signs of water in any electrics.

The wires to the column switch seem fairly thin. Don't look as if they will carry the loads to the wiper motor so I am thinking they are signal wires to the under dash module and this handles wipers and power to them. Is this right. Would diagnostic check with garage computer check the wiper components or reveal if the 'computer' was at fault or any other cause? I'm stuck+++.

What are the exact problems your having with your wipers? Mine front wipers failed the other day. Only move very slowly across the screen. Cleaned and greased the linkage and still it's no better. Booked into garage tomorrow as no time to mess about with it and need them fixing before it rains!

Think you will find that wipers are controlled by convenience module and yes can be checked by diagnostics

I see convenience modules are only 20 - 40 quid on ebay. Can I just buy one and fit it or does the 'new' module have to be coded to the car?

Have purchased a 2005 year module fitted it and without coding it works the wipers, two speeds, int and parks.

So if the rear wipers/washers work normaly, front washers work normaly and the front wiper does nothing, column switch, motor and fuses all checked OK then it could be the convenience module. I will check coding when I get the car back together. Cheap fix at £40.
