Fan isn't kicking in? Problem "/

Featured Replies

My car is getting really hot recently after a Sprited drive for a few minutes. Which cause my water to overflow and empty it's self.

I left it idling for around 10 minutes after a 20 mile trip, and not once did I see the radiator kick in? It works with A/C, but general? I snagged a cable when I changed the radiator but soldered it backl together, could this be the reason? If the connection has broke.

Also I put my hand on the radiator and there's no heat on it at all? I'd expect it to be hot?

Any help will be amazing, really starting to annoy me now.

Thanks.

Sounds like the Thrmostat to me if the rads not hot.

The fan will not come on if the radiator isn't hot and if it isn't hot you don't have any flow. It could be a sticky thermostat or a bad water pump.

Start the engine from cold and remove the cap from the coolant reservoir. If the revs are raised to about 3000rpm, do you get a steady flow of coolant from the return pipe into the reservoir?

Radiator is just Outside tempature, the pipes are all hot, and return pipe is pumping water in. Waterpump and thermostat are new. Car reaches tempature ok. It's just when you give it some stick..

If the radiator is getting hot but water is flowing into the expansion tank through the return pipe then I would guess at a block radiator.

If you feel the hoses on the radiator is the inlet one warm and the outlet cold?

Also do any of the hoses feel swollen and under pressure?

You know the pump is working OK, so if the radiator isn't getting hot, you have a faulty thermostat or a blocked radiator.

Air lock after changing the radiator, you need to bleed the air out of the system. If that doesnt cure it then its either the thermostat or the fan switch.

Oh yeh. Just saw you had changed the radiator.

I thought these were a self-bleeding system?
