Felly Fan On/Off/On Etc?

Featured Replies

Hi, another quirky issue on the Felly. Sounds like something may have worked loose under the dash area, located more on the passenger side. The result being that the indicative vibration etc cuts out the interior fan and then a second or so later it's back on again. Having carried out an initial inspection I appreciate there's various wiring/connectivity etc and to avoid a prolonged and possibly fruitless attempt at fault identification, perhaps someone might be able to home me in on what to check/where exactly to look etc. Guidance appreciated guys.

sorry... simple folk live in here....

the interior fan cuts out randomly? then come back again after a second?

Does it only do it on one speed, or all of them?

Hi Tom, simply explained I thought. The fan doesn't cut out randomly it's linked as stated to something that's probably worked loose under the dash area. As a result it's cutting out and then back on again so any focused guidance may well help as there's few more 'simpler' than I!

Hi mate, I tend to leave it on two so have only noticed it on that setting. It's probably just a case of locating the loose connectivity etc but there's a fair bit under there when you start poking around. Cheers.

the wiring for the fan and the entire heater assembly is self contained in a 3 pin loom plug which is just under the bottom edge of the heater box on the passenger side inside the dashboard, sadly it is a right royal pain up the japs eye to get to it too, you may have to take half the dash apart... failing that it could be a loose connection at the series resistor which is inside the engine bay on the drivers side of the heater box next to the wiper motor, or it could be a loose connection at the fan itself, to get to the fan you need to take the intake duct off the top of the heater inside the engine bay..

i guess you've checked the basics like the fuses etc already?

I tend to think heater resistor, OR the springs on the brushes/the brush holders being a bit stiff.

yes the series resistor is the first thing i thought of, however the fan will still work on the highest setting even if the series resistor is unplugged

Yes fuses seem ok. Thanks for that Tom I'll crack on tomorrow.

it's time to change the brushes of the fan motor.

don't bother checking the wiring.

Many thanks, that gives another angle of attack.
