Well - they're ON! Big thanks to Alex for his second wonderful suspension bargain for me. The car is now low... no its damn low, no its DAMN LOW! I feel like I'm dropping into a seat on the floor when I get in now. Ok, thats a little bit of an exaggeration, but they feel really nice. I was warned the ride was harsh, but I've been pleasantly surprised on my trip home - no real crashes/bangs - and it feels ok over undulations too. Anyway - here's some piccies of the little fitting exercise. Excuse my silly comments.

Rear struts and springs with "adjustable" bits which sit inside

DSCN8572.JPG

Front struts - with adjustable thread - can set to any desired height.

DSCN8573.JPG

Who nicked my wheels? :D

DSCN8574.JPG

Hell, they took the ones off this side as well! :grumpy:

DSCN8575.JPG

This is how the rear struts are held on - viewable easier with the arch liner off, but I reckon could be reached OK without the liner having to be removed. ;)

DSCN8576.JPG

Ahem, another rear strut shot

DSCN8577.JPG

One set of eibach dampers - well, only one front one I know - MAXCARS, if you're watching they're ready for shipping. ;)

DSCN8578.JPG

New "mintex" OEM style front discs fitted - also have rear discs on the car now which were about 2 weeks old when I rolled it... Another bit of "salvage" goes on my car...

Yummy blue springs on the coilovers. :D

DSCN8580.JPG

Who nicked the suspension!? ;) - Actually I felt chuffed to say I actually removed the rear struts complete myself.

Is the chav word, "slammed"??? I'm not "down and with it" on the streets so not sure. I estimate the drop to be around 65/70mm from standard and there's still more room to go at the front, and a smidge at the back. (no back seats or subs in at the moment though. ;))

DSCN8592.JPG

The alloys need a clean, eh? :o

DSCN8593.JPG

Rears could do right down more I reckon.

Looks good J!

3 things..

1) the brakes are too small :P

2) bye bye sump :(

3) CHAV!

looks alreet jason... all this effort, should have just bought a RS ;)

What exactly goes where then at the rear? Do you lose the OEM spring and instead it goes over the shock? Or have I got horribly confused?

You call that low? You could get a family of asylum seekers in each of those wheel arches.

Look like a nice bit of kit J.

How long was the fitting? I see how those rears are fitted now

Have you booked a 4 wheel alignment check, Jason? Looks nice - in fact looks like it would fit under my 4X4 now!

Whats that on the wheelarch?

Well done!!!

A Furby to a 206 lookalike is a hard bit of work

Just one question?

Where did you get a heffalump from to sit on the bonnet ???:rofl:

Must resist the obvious answer........:D

Dr Zed...... you are putting the anal into analyst :D:D

I sincerely hope that jack isnt on the rear beam sonny jim. Does your car not have the "No jacking or tie down on the rear beam" warning label on it? They dont like the cars weight in one point and tend to bend and throw the rear alignment out.

Having said that it does look good. Im looking forward to getting the coil overs sorted for the Felicia soon for the lowline look.

Thanks for the comments.... :D

It "was" jacked up momentarily on the rear beam, but only for a few minutes as we ended up shoving two axles stands at the back elsewhere as the jack wasn't letting the rear suspension drop. :o

Denis - 4WA check will be done a.s.a.p, but it feels OK to me. Hope somewhere local can do a check for me.

Alex - You're spot on mate! :grumpy: Bobbling paint on the rear arch was pointed out to me and I have two close up pics! I'm not a happy bunny about that, but will start a new thread methinks...

Richard - There's still a damper in place of the old damper, but now inside where the rear spring sits there's an adjustable gizmo screwed in as well. :)

The spring sits outside the damper on the rear. In fact, even I could change the rears ;)

Chris

I think that looks great.

Theres a point when a car can go too low and it looks daft, but yours is spot on

Lower like this. I want a 2 door.

Great, thanks.

Just when I thought a set of springs would be fine, you go and do this.

Great' date=' thanks.

 Sorry. :o

I like that black vRS - I assume thats a photoshop? If so, its damn good! Like I was saying, when I put my rear seats and subwoofer box in the back it'll probably drop another 3mm (the springs are dead tough, so won't be much) - But the fronts have a whole "finger width" of adjustment to go. ;) Had no rubbing yet either which I'm chuffed with, but then unlike the person I got these from, my alloys are 1" narrower so aren't at risk. ;)

Good job Jason and thanks for the pics. But anyone with a vRS who's trempted - BE WARNED. Lower your vRS like this and you will smash your sump to smitherines - the PD engine is much lower under the car than the TDI. Stick to springs and dampers Josh!

The black ones a photochop, you can tell by the Skooby rear spoiler and blue bits. I'm fitting KW's this week and have been warned not to lower anymore than 30mm otherwise it's like driving without suspension

Is there much difference between sump positions on the PD100 and the PD130? I thought they used the same block but had bigger turbo and injectors. I haven't scraped the bottom yet though, but then I've been ultra careful so far. I have also found that the front wheels rub slightly on full lock, combined with some good cornering speed, so will have to be careful of that. :o

uh ho! I feel an accident coming on Jase!! :thumbdwn:

Can you find a local friendly body shop to roll the front arches?

Not sure I can do that and get the arch liner to still fit... But its a thought. ;) Its only a couple of times I got it to rub today - generally for most cornering and manouveres, its totally fine.

hmm-sounds kind of convincing!! Just go careful Jase!!

I ordered my new wheels this morning.

They're very, how can I say? Euro.

Euro wheels look cr@p unless the car is slammed, so it looks like I'm going to have to slam it.

Eibach have brought out a stainless steel coilover (no rust!) and I've put my name down for the first set!

Now who does metal sump guards for the Fabia vRS?
