Portable in car DAB - will this work?

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I recently picked up a portable DAB radio from asda which I have plugged into the aux port of my car.

It works fine when it is sat still but loses signal quite regularly on the move.

The signal is picked up through the cable plugged into the headphone socket, in my case the aux cable.

Would getting a 3.5mm jack splitter (which splits the one output into 2) and then connecting a dedicated DAB aerial to the second output and the aux cable to the car to the other work? As in from a technical standpoint?

I can't think of any reasons why not, but thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks,

Stu.

Not familiar with the Furby's layout.....where is the Aux cable located? Do you have an arm-rest like the one on the Octy?

Aux is in the middle next to hand brake.

Doesn't matter though because I can route the cable across the car to wherever the aerial is located :)

In that case, you could put the DAB in the glovebox, that might give you enough length to act as the ariel

I picked up one of these the other day. Thoroughly recommended! Less than £30, plugged straight into the aux port in the arm-rest and off we went. The aux cable routing is almost enough to act as the ariel.....most of the time the unit sits in the map (remember them?) pocket on the back of the passenger sear. Crystal clear and no dropouts. :) :)

Hi guy's

I'm off to France in a couple of weeks and was wondering if this is worth the price? I miss uk stations whilst driving and prefer radio to cd's, what did you guys buy? Model number would be helpful.

Cheers

Darren
