convenience system bus

Featured Replies

Does anybody know what bus the convenience system controller uses? I dont think its the K type but I might be wrong.

The car diagnostic socket will be K-line and you talk to the CCU via that socket. Depending on the revision, the CCU has connections to both K-line and CAN-bus.

What are you trying to do?

Apologies for the delay. I had a problem with the off side rear door window that refused to go up and then the door wouldnt open. I tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting. Holding the key in the locked position. Holding the key in the unlocked position. I then wondered if there was a way of resetting or at least interogating the controller to see what it thought it was doing. Eventually I drove the car around for a day and the door suddenly unlocked. I traced the fault to a large brown wire which had severed in the rubber boot between the pillar and the door.

I have a laptop adaptor which reads the K line OK using VCDS v409. Unfortunately it can't read can bus. Can you recommend an inexpensive can bus reader?

Thanks

Although many components on a mk1 talk via can bus you don't need to. You can talk to the CCU via the diagnostic socket and only require K line. What you have is OK. The CCU is module 46.

The wire you fixed is the earth wire for the door. Do you still have a problem with the central locking?

Thanks RWBALDWIN I'll see if I can hunt down the module 46 using the K type interface.

Central locking and window now fixed with the wire repair. Can you suggest a cheap way of reading the systems on my other Skoda. It's a mark two and most of the systems are can bus not K line. IS there an interface I could use with my laptop and the VCDS v409 that I already have and use with my K line adaptor? The ross system is a little too expensive.

If you just need to read the codes then a hand-held CAN-Bus scanner will be OK, but it is very limited.

If you need the functionality that VCDS provides, then you need to buy a genuine HEX+USB+CAN lead (you could buy a Micro CAN lead but it will only work with a MK2).

It's not cheap, but it is worth it. If you ever move away from VAG, you will have no problem selling it on. see http://www.ross-tech.com/distributors.html
