service deal - is it worth it?

Featured Replies

Hi

Bit of advice needed. Been offered a service deal from local dealer - £299 for next 2 services & next 2 MOT's.

Car is 6 years old in May, and after then it wont be available.

Its done 37000 miles, so services will be age based, not mileage. This years has been paid for up front so it will be the 7 year and 8 year service...

As the MOT's are £35 each that leaves £230 for 2 services - cant be bad?

Also - i forgot to ask them - if i sell car in meantime is it transferable?

Cheers

Sounds like a good deal to me. When we picked up our nearly new Superb and Fabia recently the dealer offered us their servicing 'deal' at £800+ for the next 3 years (so 3 services + an MOT each) for both cars. He wasn't entirely surprised when we said no thanks.

When I had the Octavia my local independent garage charged around the £150 mark (I think - bit hazy on that) for a variable service.

£400 each for 3 years with MOT isn't that bad is it?

Im just wondering if they will slap on other charges?

My fault - should have said £800 for each car - so yes, £400 per car good. but £800 per car bad :)

The £299 deal is very good, but only available to time and distance servicing, not variable.

For OP it will include the MOT as well.

Read the small print to see exactly what it covers.

I have the deal for my car, but it is only 16 months old tomorrow. Just used the 1st one for a 20,000 mile inspection service.

I've just taken out this deal on my 2yo Octy, to cover the 3rd and 4th year services (and MOTs).

I researched quotes for the 3rd service at ~£120-130 and the 4th service at £220-280, so maybe ~£400 for both. Then throw in the 2 MOTs and you certainly won't lose money. The only way you may get a "better" deal is by going to a cheaper independent garage.

The package only includes the cost of consumables that will be replaced according to the service schedule, so oil, filters etc are included (assuming they are due to be changed). Other things like brake pads/disks aren't included should they need changing.
