All clean :D

Verdict:

The difference is amazing. No more random hesistation, pulls ALOT harder etc etc!

Well worth the £7 for the gasket and carb cleaner.

Get it done!

i have read that you have to reset it using vag.com was this the case or was it just left plugged in?

I just left mine plugged in and was very careful when cleaning the butterfly valve.

Idles fine.

that was fairly clean to start with :D

if you are being really tight then sometimes the gaskets can be reused as well...

Did mine at 75k and didnt look half as bad as that. Weird.

I'd just like to add, I'll be doing mine at the weekend.... I've only had my mk1 a couple of months but hesitation is starting to do me in! This gasket and the side repeater I had to replace last week.... She's getting spoilt, £8!!

Did you open the valve and clean up the other side? I did mine when I bought the car, it was lumpy on a cold start up, I think that was half the reason the bloke was selling it lol

Yes mate, Ignition on two turns and put a dumbell on the accelerator to open the butterfly :)

Urban myth, that one. ;)

Make sure the ignition is switched off when you unplug it and you'll be fine.

Theres no need to unplug it.

great stuff! did mine a few weeks ago, mine has 46K on the clock, I disconnected the battery and removed the TB completely. Since then I've lost the 17705 fault! pity I hadn't done it sooner as I spent weeks messing around with DV's hoses and you name it! Since then the MPG's have also improved too!
