What changes to 170cr engine layout?

Recommended Posts

Hi all ,

Just traded in my well loved Superb 170cr Elegance for a new Superb 170cr 4x4 Elegance. Apart from a few differences in the MFD like oil temp and voice control in the navigation I notice that the layout under the bonnet is different and you can now see the turbo and the oil filter is in a different place. There is also an object that resembles the shape of a "sardine tin" in its place. The induction system also looks slightly different. Any learned members out there care to fill me in on the details?

Broke my heart to drive it out onto the mucky salty roads this afternoon but bucket and sponge are poised as soon as it warms up a little.

Petrol Blue metallic is stunning in the sunshine!!

Take a picture of the engine bay as you have not stated how old your last car was.

Previous Superb was bought new by me in 2009

Odd, turbo and oil filter are in the same place on all CR engines, nothing has changed as such. The sardine tin as you name it (like it) should be the new type oil cooler.

The first thing i noticed is that the turbo is now clearly visible so the intake plumbing is different.I also suspect that the engine cover is slightly different so that may explain the oil filter position looking different, I hope they didn't put in a 140cr engine by mistake!! As if......

Sounds a lovely spec. I will look out for you, does this mean one less Rosso in Tayside?

Who knows where my old Superb will end up but whoever gets it will love owning it. the vat free deal hastened my purchase (as well as a clever salesman at Specialist cars Dundee)

Absolutely carried away with Petrol blue colour .

Is it anything to do with moving stuff around to accommodate 4x4 hardware ?

Don't think so,

I wish I had made a note of the engine code on my previous Superb. That would enlighten me.
