Haynes Manual

Featured Replies

I checked six months ago, and apparently not enough Fabias have been made to justify making a manual, (even though its over 1million).

Are they ever going to make one?

There was a reply from them about the octavia recently where they listed their requirements. The same will apply to the fabia , and it's basically an "eventually"

It's reproduced here.

Reproduced from that other thread for context:

Haynes Publishing Ltd core product is Service and Repair manuals. It is in our interest to produce a manual if viable and I can assure all customers we will produce a manual for a particular model if at all possible. When considering a vehicle for inclusion on our forthcoming list we consider three points:

1. The vehicle has to be DIY compatible and information available from the manufacturer. On this point, although not researched yet, the Octavia should be OK.

2. It is out of warranty (i.e. over three years old). The manual market for vehicles still under warranty is very small and vehicles less than three years old are not considered towards our sales target. The only exception to this is for very popular models (e.g. Ford Fiesta) where there is demand at less than three years old and the sales target has already been exceeded by a large amount

3. Most importantly, it has sold in excess of 50,000 units. Quite simply, below this figure a manual isn't viable.

In the case of the Octavia official figures for eligible years are 29,981 vehicles sold. Although sales have now increased it is likely to be at least a year before this model meets our target.

Interestingly the response I got from them on the Mazda MX-5 Mark 2 situation was slightly different:

Thank you for your interest in Haynes Car Service and Repair Manuals.

Unfortunately we do not currently produce a Manual for your vehicle. On average we produce 8 new and 8 updated Car Service and Repair Manuals per year along with approximately 5 new and 5 updated Motorcycle Service & Repair Manuals.

When looking at our publishing programme for the forthcoming year we take into consideration new car registrations both in the UK and abroad, Trade and private customer requests and the vehicle model. (Some models/makes are simply not 'DIY' compatible.)

Under normal circumstances we consider covering models that are 3 years old and whose sales have exceeded 50,000 units.

We are currently logging the amount of requests we have for the Mazda MX-5 and this will be taken into consideration when the publishing programme is next under review.

If you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact us.

i.e. they are encouraging people to contact them to register interest - hence we should all individually be asking them to produce a Fabia manual.

Since at least some Fabia models ARE now over three years old, does anyone know how many Fabias have now been sold in the UK? Even if I can't get a vRS specific manual, the "ordinary" one would be useful for some things. I had a Freelander manual even though it didn't cover the V6 model I had.
