Extended warranty

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any idea if you can buy this after you have picked up the car??

As I've just found out about this... The extra two years or upto 100,000 miles... And as I do around 30k miles per year I think it's a must.

I think they offer once the initial 3 years warranty expires

I've been told it has to be done when you buy the car.

Nope, you can buy it before year 3 is up - gives you a choice to keep the car as well.

I wanted to buy an extended warranty when I picked up the car but the dealer said I couldn't and I should just buy one from an online seller

I'd check the small print on the extended warranty. I'm sure i've seen a post on here mentioning it isn't as comprehensive as the new car warranty and has changed in the last few years.

This is the same as the 3 year you get when first bought. The 1st year is by skoda uk 2nd/3rd year by skoda network

So basically takes the 3rd year warranty and adds some extra exclusions for items catagorised as 'damage'.

Ah didn't read it right and the wear and tear thing is new aswell. Didn't know about the 3rd year warranty abroad changes either, seems strange to change that during the standard warranty.

Travelling abroad within the third year of

your warranty.

Should your Škoda suffer a

manufacturing defect covered by the third year

warranty while outside the United Kingdom, the repair

must be carried out by a member of the Škoda

authorised network in that country. The cost should be

settled by you with the repairer and a claim made for

reimbursement through your local member of the

Škoda authorised network in the UK.

In order for reimbursement to be possible the repair

invoice should be returned to a member of the Škoda

authorised network in the UK within 14 days of the

invoice date.

For £160 i'll have another year with no worries thanks.

  • Funny though... I had to replace my clutch and the dealer told me they have a one year warranty, despite the standard warranty covering only 6 months! That said, I could have went elsewhere and got it cheaper, with a 2 year warranty. If it goes again, I know what I will do!

Yeah seems very good value, especially for VRS owners. I know some warranty companies that cover wear and tear and most forms of non deliberate damage but I'd expect quotes of over £300. A BMW 1 series I looked into was going to cost £680 a year.

Hmm. my last vRS (MK1 diesel) clutch was going and it had extended warranty, got it replaced and all was fine... and free I might add!
