please help

this has probably been asked several times before but the big head to head is ....

fabia VRS v octavia VRS ... whats best

i went to local dealer to have a loom at swapping me 'tavia VRS for 'tavia VRS est .. just fancy a change ... but then saw a fabia VRS ...which took my fancy

what would it be like compared to mr 'tavia VRS .... , just fancy a change but not much about so thougt just have a VRS est, as never really looked at fabia ............

its all about size and gearbox. perfomance wise there is nothing in it. if you want a manual it has to be the octy. if you like DSG, you get it at a no cost extra on the fabia ;) otherwise its just space! the octy is bigger than the fabia, but the fabia will cost less :)

Hi Dave, ee have both.

Octavia TSI VRS in manual and the Fabia as DSG of course.

I love DSG, particularly the 7 speed, so I tend towards the Fabia.

Fabia is about 20% better on fuel ie let us say 35 mpg compared to 40 mpg if you use them as they should be used but do not drive like a complete cretin ie show some traffic anticiaption.

Fabia's engine is a revelation, the pickup from 2K revs is stunning, even compared to the Octy VRS.  I am a little suprised their 0-60 is similar as the Fabia feels quicker bu that might be the min effect ie small cars feel faster then are not necessarily.

Clearly you can carry 5 people and a load of luggage in the Octy which you cannot in the Fabia VRS.

Fabia has 10K servicing which is a pain when you do 50K a year like I do, hence I use the Octy more than the Fabia, higher fuel costs is reduced concern as I have a fuel card.

Like the Fabia's MDI.

Fabia VRS either needs a flared arches kit or lowering or both in my opinion.

Both fabulous cars IMO. Might bring them to a West Midlands meet if we can both get there together.

There are some great bits in the VAG parts bin I hope we get at some point.  270 hp 2 litre TSI, fuel cylinder cut off to save fuel, increase range, presuambly a 1.6 TSI to follow VAG's Touring Car and WRC moves.

If only they produce a decent VRS diesel with one of the V6 VAG diesels as with the UK motorway speed limit going up to 80 nominal ie 88 effective, the petrol VRS drink a bit at these speeds where the V6 diesel would match the VRS badge. Here is hoping.

Take a look at the Fabia vRS estate if space worries you :)

As mentioned above, DSG in the Fabia is great, if they offered a diesel with a 6 speed manual it would have suited more as they compare it directly to the MK1 vRS.

Not like for like really but I'm moving from

A tavia tsi into a fab vrs. It's all about the dsg!

Im looking at doing the opposite due to the number of issues iv had with the fabia

the octavia has a much better chassis and interior as well. i want another one

I cant comment on what the octy vrs is like but the octavia greenline courtesy car i had felt alot more stable than the fabia obviously was a bit wavy but presume with stiffened suspension they are spot on
