Skoda Octavia HB. 1.6 Diesel, 2012 Trailer Wiring.

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am now the proud owner of a Skoda Octavia HB,1.6 Diesel, and if anyone can help with the issues underneath, Thanks in Advance

I have just fitted a BOSAL de-mountable tow bar, ( one of the easiest car jobs I have ever done... ) and now need to complete the wiring. The car will tow only a small trailer.

I have got the PCT Automotive wiring kit ( ZR2000 / 11813 / 03-5061 ) suitable for either 13 or 7 pin sockets ( if I understand the brochure right ) The instructions say that you need to run a cable (supplied in the kit ) from an independant power supply ( Battery, with fusible link, or vehicle fuse box??? ) to the Relay. It also shows spare connections in the fuse boxe's ( both under the bonnet and under the dash internally ) Then connect up the wires on the relay, one set to the existing cables feeding the rear lights ( I think...) and the 2nd set to to the actual plug socked on the towbar itself.

Question is which set to which wires? On one end, where the Live feed and Earth are connected to the relay plus a snap-on connector, and the other end by inserting the wires individually into spring-loaded slots on the relay. Question is which set of wires go where?

In the handbook supplied with the vehicle, it says that there is an 13 pin socket already included in the original wiring harness, factory installed. Does anyone know just where exactly this socket is on the wiring harness?

According to the instructions, it is possible to get an adapter ( 7 to 13 pin & 13 to 7 ).

So instead of ripping out half of the upholstery to lay cables from the front to the back of the car to supply a live feed, if I simply get the 13/7 pin adapter, will all my wiring problems be solved?

Has anyone any experience with this? Or can anyone give step by step fitting instructions?

Sorry if some one has already posted on this, but I am " Newbie" and still finding my way around.

Thanks ,

Jim.

Hi

I noticed this post as I have just posted a similar post and was hoping to get some info but none forth coming. I rang my Skoda dealer and he told me on my car which is the same as yours there is no pre wiring included as base model. They also confirmed there is no clean 12v supply in rearof car (boot). So you will either need to get on back of fuse box or battery direct with inline fuse... Rather than ripping up interior trim I am considering running wire under car. as it will be quicker and easier. As long as it is fused at battery end can't see why it would not be viable. I am also going to purchase a I have got the PCT Automotive wiring kit ( ZR2000 / 11813 / 03-5061)

Hello Jim and welcome along
