ECU from vRS to non vRS car?

Featured Replies

Hi peeps,

In one of my local pick and pull scar yards there is 2003 vRS, really baldly mashed up, however the engine bay is in good shape.

The question is:

If I pull the ECU from it could I just plug it in to my 2003 TDI 100PD? I could get the ECU for £80 quid :) (I know a guy there)

So my car could have the vRS mapping, or is it just a wet dream?

Thanks

Alex

Lol good luck!

The Immobiliser is part of the ECU so you'll have to spend money getting it coded in anyway.

Better off just mapping yours I'd have thought.

I had an ECU swap (like for like), took a few minutes to get the immo coded up. . .

Not sure about if it'll run or not though! (I've replied to your question re the boot mat too. . .)

OK, this is why I am asking, so perhaps I should go just with a remap then :)

The ecu is paired to the cluster. To swap clusters/ecu's you need the secret key code and follow the vcds procedure. If you don't have the code then you will need someone to get it by using additional hardware. Or you can swap the immbo EPROM chip from your ecu to the spare.

Now the vrs has different injectors so the duration, start of injection, beginning of injection, injection at start (injector) maps will not match.

Remap is a much better option :)

Oh and the turbo is different so different boost pressure and n75 maps.

Thanks, I never even thought of that but you are correct, so...looking for a remap now :)
