Changes for Superb MY13 confirmed

Featured Replies

At last someone put their hand up!

My dealer (Norway) told me today that he had confirmation of three changes to MY13, where one unfortunately is a downgrade (who spelled depreciation...) :(

The one thing is that Superbs and Octys have had the very best of VAG xenon technology. Adaptive to your cars direction, weather and such. Also, one has had the ability of a "holiday setting" where for instance I, as a Norwegian, could set the cars lights for left side driving. As opposed to right side, as we normal people do :D Anyway, that feature and some other light related stuff is REMOVED, all though it will still be adaptive xenons. Only taken down a notch or two. Maybe not that important, but still something to let the Audis rise above. For which exact reason I hate it!

Enough of that. On to the lighter side of things. The MDI interface will get a software update, as will Amundsen and Colombus. What they hold was not clarified.

And that my fellow Briskodians, concludes the changes for MY13. Shame about those lights.

That's a bit annoying. People with VAG COM might be able to enable that feature though. I'd be interested to know what Columbus software upgrades there are

At least here Octavia has never had double-xenon lights and AFS, only the driving lights have been available with xenon-bulbs.

The specification of models vary dramatically country by country. Norway may have lost some kit as mentioned by the OP, however that is no guarentee that us in the UK will lose these functions. We may gain other functions, or lose totally different things.

But one thing is a fact : octavia has never had bi-xenons as a factory option, not in Norway and not anywhere. I`m pretty sure about that. AFS is mentioned nowadays in Norway`s skoda-site, but not here in Finland. Here they only say that those turning foglights are available....for octavia.

the biggest change is SCOUT !! Thats what im told !

Well... I can't see that I mentioned anything about double xenon lights. However AFS is fully operational with only the driving lights being xenon, if the system is enabled. Of course one can get xenon also without AFS on some makes :)

The brochures and info on UK website still boast AFS as a major selling point, and there's no way people will get factory ordered cars now that are built before the changeover date suggested, assuming that's correct.

No, but you said :

And that`s not the case with octavia....sorry. :giggle:

Well - in Norway it is. Here the Octys are available with the exact same AFS system as the Superbs. :)

Hi, I'm getting confused about all this talk of the headlights...

I have just put in a order (yesterday) on a danish 2.0 tdi combi elegance with the bi-xenon AFS headlights... I have always thought the "moving" part of the headlights where Xenon and all other lights was standard halogen?

Now I'm starting to get afraid I'm not getting what I expected when ordering the car... Please "enlighten" me (no pun intended....).

Hi Kaj!

You will get what you ordered. The changes their making will not be missed by many, and does not affect the everyday use of the headlights. And they still move! :)

But still : octy may have AFS, but it doesn´t have BI-xenons, and therefore it doesn`t have the best of VAG xenon technology....sorry. :hi:

Amundsen radio (similar to VW RNS310/315) should be upgraded to Amundsen+ which should have DAB+ receiver build it. I hope it can be retrofited :drunk:

It does have bi-xenon in Norway. Sorry right back at you :)

This is what is said in Norway´s skoda-site :

Xenonlys med AFS, automatisk høydejustering og lyktespylere

No mentioning of Bi-xenons, like in Superb´s list. So....

If I remember correctly, there has been some articles here where it´s been told that those bi-xenons just don`t exist in octy´s factory-option-list. Maybe I´m wrong....

Hmm... Had a dug into this, and it seems I stand corrected. I have thought based on some dealer info that the Octys where available with bi-xenon.

Sorry for any misguided info. I will check my sources better next time.

If I remember correctly, some boss from skoda had said that the smaller model just can´t have as good lights as the bigger one....something like that. Strange...
