A few observations first two weeks ownership

Featured Replies

Octy 2. 2005 Hatch Elegance 1.9 Tdi PD. Apparently no PF? BKC engine code I think

Fuel economy is ace - Avg consumption reads 50.5 not bad for commute to work. Avg speed 22mph....

Handling - good, crisp turn in, brakes good although I need to overhaul rear calipers.

Everything seems tight even though done 64k miles. Interior showing few signs of wear except gear knob "chroming"

anyone have a good 5 speed knob! Black leather + Chrome pls

Seats - I'm finding hard to get comfy lower back support is poor for me.

Noisy - road noise, must get tracking checked apparently.

Suspension is good, 16" alloys the VW/Skoda (Vegas?) 205 tyres goodyears (Look to be in good nick. no sign of feathering)

Boot is huge with nice touches like the tie downs and bag hooks, I was especially tickled by hook on cover to hold up wheelwell hatch. All the "bits" I used to carry are now stored in tyrewell,

L/H door trim buzzes annoyingly when music turned up a bit.

Rear parking sensors work very well like the display on Audio system. Stream i think is the model.

replaced wiper blades, a couple of fuses, headlamp bulbs (dipped) to osram silverstar +50% time will tell.

The release for HL units is corroding and stiff as H*ll, greased and worked so should be better next time.

See loads now on the road, but I have not seen another red one yet!

Things to do include

Tracking, brakes, fix hose to rear sreen wash, Full service inc. timing belt and all filters. MOT. Handbrake (related to back brake caliper / corrosion i think.) HIDs. Maxidot, Columbus, MFSW. Damn good clean and polish. Alloys - have powdered coated.

All in all an excellent car so far, some could live with the things i need to fix so in reality not to cost to get it nicely sorted!

Thanks to the info on the forum I have had a much easier time and learned loads so a ---

BIG THANKS TO YOU ALL.

All sounds good

And a sensible list of things to-do as well

The bits you've listed are the usual, common little niggles really.
