Macbook Pro 8GB upgrade

Featured Replies

Just a quicky :)

I have just ordered myself 8GB or RAM from Crucial from my MBP.... The only reason I done this is because it's a £320.00 option from Apple but I only paid £34.79, so a pretty nice saving of £285.00.

I no graphic developer or web designer, but, what improvements can I expect for general usage?

Thanks

I also upgraded my Macbook Pro to 8GB with Crucial memory, it made a lot of difference. Far less beachballing and I can now run several VMs in VMware fusion with no problems.

Jesus wept !!

How much do Apple want to make in profit !!!

I used exactly this and it's much much better.

Far fewer waiting on the beachball of doom moments and generally less thrashing of the not particularly rapid disk.

Far too much. I thought it was a criminal amount.

I did exactly the same with my 13" MBP.

Also changed the HDD for a 128SSD.

Yes runs windoze better than ever. Also handles large docs with photos in with ease.

Processing video is as bad as ever, but that is down to the 2.53Ghz core2duo processor and not the memory.

Just to let you all know, I have just done this upgrade and everything is noticeably quicker.... It seems as if the MBP is not even trying, seems a lot smoother :) Comparable to a standard Fabia vRS and a remapped one, it's a totally different animal.

I'd recommend this upgrade to anyone who is considering it.

I have 16GB of ram in my 2011 Quad-Core i7 MacBook pro. Runs like a beast.
