Cam wire routing and power amp wire routing

Featured Replies

Hi all,

For my 2005 Octavia II Ambiente (Hatch), I've bought a chinese head unit, couldn't afford Columbus etc. (and as I've already had some good advice on here, I will post about the whole experience once installed to help others). I've searched and found an excelent thread by Richieroo but it doesn't extend to the cable routing.

I'm also going to put in my modest power amp and sub woofer in the boot.

Before I start pulling trim off here there and everywhere, I would really appreciate advice on which way to route these wires:

1. Power from a fused connection at the battery for the power amp in the boot - where to go through the bulkhead and how to get to back of car - in the sills? Under the carpet?

2. Signal wires for the power amp? - Go left side of car? Right side? sills? under carpet? What about the now redundant CD changer - does it have decent shielded phono leads I could use instead?

3. Signal wires for the reversing camera. Do these go through the black corrugated harness at the top of the hatch and into the head lining of the cabin? where next? How to get to the head unit?

All advice gratefully received.

Thanks

Nick

1. Run power cable down passengers side behind glove box there is a grommet you can put a hole through and feed cable through that to engine bay.

2. no switched live in car I could find so had to take it from the fuse box in engine bay

3. Take from rear light wiring for the reverse lamp

Donovan,

Many thanks for this -

For 2 and 3 I meant the phono cables. The ones that go from the HU to the amp in the boot and the HU to the camera on the boot lid - it;s the routring through the car that I was hoping for advice on.

Kind Regards

Nick

Route them on the opposite side to the power cables as you can get interferance.

I'm guessing you have already completed this installation now but I installed mine today.

1) I always like to take my connections from the fuse box. I piggy back of another connection such as the lighter.

2) Remove the pillars and run underneath the plastic sills. There is a nice run underneath. When you get to the rear door rise up and then pass through the boot and under the carpet.

3) I found this a little tricky. I had to go up the back of the boot door to the top. Then I found a rubber corrugated pipe and passed into the top of the roof and I passed it through there. At that point it got tricky and I had to feed down into the boot and through the back seat. Then i was able to route it down through the sill again on the passenger side.
