luggage barrier

Featured Replies

Hi I'm working my way towards ordering a yeti (2.0 diesel 4wd dsg) and have got a few things I'm trying to sort first, I've posted on the australian forum, but I'm hoping someone here can help me, given this seems to be where the action is. My local skoda dealers seem to be pretty well useless for anything other than ticking boxes.

I'm after a cargo barrier and have found this genuine part, which is as close as I can find to a proper full barrier (I'd prefer a full barrier but can see that it would chew up some scarce real estate).

Does anyone know if the nuts (mounting points?) for this thing are pre-fitted (as they are with subaru foresters) - or if they have to be factory specified? Ideally there will be two sets of mounting points, one behind the rear seats as per the product photo and one behind the front seats (like the forester), but I'm guessing that might be too much to ask for.

I've had a bit of poke around this forum but haven't found any reference to this.

Also, has anyone in Britain actually been able get their yeti, specified with 17" wheels, fitted with 16" wheels for no extra cost? I'll be wanting to get all terrain tyres.

many thanks, if I can sort this I'll be well on the way.

Just got one of these yesterday, haven't fitted yet, but checked the parts that came with it, the mounting points have to be drilled out of the headlining and the rear 1/4 panels, I don't know yet if the body work is pre drilled but to secure the guard at the 4 points are are what can only be described as metal rawl plugs,( the ones used for plaster board) whereby you place them in the hole and when tightened up they secure themselves to the bodywork. I hope this helps, looks like a pain to do but once it's done, it will be good.

Regarding a wheel downgrade from 17" to 16" there is a growing number of UK members who have managed to get the change done, there are at least two threads on the forum detailing what was involved.

Taking the advice from Briskoda members I emailed the head if skoda uk who passed my enquiry onto one of his team, within a week It had been confirmed my wheels would be

dowgraded to 16" moons with 215/60 tyres.

Prior to that I had asked the dealer and skoda uk over the phone with no joy.

We are now six weeks from build week and getting excited already!

I'm interested in this, pretty sure I've seen this listed in the current manual but couldn't see in the accessory booklet.

I think your question has been answered. If you want more on this try searching for Dog Guard instead of luggage barrier.

I think a few people think of it as an UPGRADE to 16" wheels and tyres!! :giggle:

One UPGRADED UK Yeti Elegance 2.0TDI 110 4x4 Special Build :)

In here changing from default 17" to 16" was free. But available for Elegance only.

Sadly I missed it ... Maybe if I lived in Germany or some other civilised country I could fully enjoy lower profile of 17" rubber :wall:

Come on over and I'll do you a swap. I would much prefer 16" rims!!

Thanks for the offer, but unfortunately I missed my chance for having 16" meaning I do have 17".

Should have made myself more clear :giggle:

I have just refitted the 17" rubber bands to my Yeti..... Not looking forward to the ride.

Do you mean bolt-tightened rivet nuts? or something similar...

If drilling in metal, a proper rivet nut is a nice solution. I have a Beta one. This thread mentions a Wurth one http://vagdrivers.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=59753 and there are cheap chinese ones about too (ge Lobster).

I take it your talking about something similar to a hollow wall anchor used on plasterboard stud walls, that expands out behind the board as you tighten up the screw :wonder:

Would explain why some members are trying to find a new fixing kit when transferring the guard from one car to another, as these obviously cannot be removed once expanded out.

TP

I think these are the actual things that Skoda supply for fitting not only the dog guard, but some other bits as well:

If you Google "rivnuts" there are plenty of suppliers. You just need the correct size.

There actually more like the ones that " the plumber" has in post 14. Will take a picture later and post it, cheers

Softie, Mike. :giggle:

I'm still running my 17" winter tyres and can't (now) wait to get onto my 18" Summer wheels! ;)
