Did anyone see Friday's Daily Mirror?

The accolades just keep coming in :giggle:

I see the red tops still can't bring themselves to not mention the "Joke" word. :wonder:

The irony of owning the second best & the worst! Land Rover dealers are utterly horrendous but you can't compare a Superb to a Defender!

The article mentions the defender as the worst car in the UK, but I'm sure that isn't true........it is the 100th best car. There will be others that didn't get as high as the defender :giggle: that are not mentioned as they don't do more than 100.........They are worse than the defender.....

As a Yeti and a Defender owner it really is a case of horses for courses.

I can quite happily load a pile of logs in the back of my Defender but not the Yeti, but It's the Yeti for long journeys in comfort.

My Defender is 15 years old so I know it will be high maintenance (new crank oil seal, water pump recently and now a drop arm ball joint replacement in hand).

Happy with both but didn't submit my vote.

I've lost count of the number of Defenders I've had over the last 10 years.

Yes, they are great workhorses and amazing off road. But this is a car survey.

Compared to a car they are expensive, slow, noisy, uncomfortable over long distances (particularly the short wheel base 90) and the ergonomics are terrible.

I haven't driven a Defender regularly for three years now, but my shoulder has never recovered from 57,000 miles in two years with my shoulder banging against the B post.

I am a long time Land Rover fan, but I am not blind to thier faults.

It's not a car, so judging it to the same standards as one is always going to undervalue it's abilities.

....this is a car survey....

Quite right. You don't compare a Landie (two 110's in my case) with a car - different animals!

Put another way and maybe in more of a comparison, 3 year old puma 110 XS double cab pick up.

2 new starter motors, causing break down & stranding with 3.5t of trailer on the back.

4 sets of door sills all round.

And last week a set of half shafts.

Is that right for a £30k vehicle that's 3 years old?

I still love it even though my right shoulder is deformed too, selling and replacing with a new Ford Ranger Limited. :-/

As I said - Horses for Courses.

Just had a frustrating weekend sorting out the drop arm ball joint BUT at 15 years old passed the MOT today - Yippee.

Defender thread now closing!!!
