Slight Hesitation at 1200 rpm

Featured Replies

Hey All,

My car seems to hesitate and stutter when revving at about 1200 rpm, when i move off it seems to judder a bit.

Anyone got an idea what it may be? Took it back to dealer they said nothing wrong with it, but I have driven many TDi 130 units and never had this hesitation.

Cheers in advance.

Anyone???

No Superb driver myself but isn't that a little low to start? Do you gently feed in the accelerator at those revs, or plant it hard?

The turbo won't have spun up much at those revs, so if you plant it hard it will struggle a bit. As for round 1200 rpm - it may be to do with emissions but I can drop mine way lower than that (900ish) in the vRS without that happening.

Hopefully someone else will give more useful feedback on that 1200 rpm thing though.

I would have thought it may depend on how heavy your right foot is. You may have anything thats playing up, but it may just be some dodgy fuel that is more noticeable at low gently speed/accelerator pedal pressure.

How long has it been doing it, and how much of a hesitation is it?

The hesitation is only noticable when cold, a kind of vibration / judder like it is about to stall. When warm there are no problems.

Thought it could be the clutch, but surely the judder would get worse as the car was revved more?

Thought it could be the MAF, but not sure of all the symptoms of that. Took it to the garage, they claimed no error codes reported!

I have driven an identical Superb 1.9 TDi and no problems at the same rpm.

Any more ideas?

p.s thanks for the replies so far, and in advance for any more.

I doubt it is the clutch based on it not slipping and it not happening once warm.

MAF wise - not a clue here, sorry :)

Sounds like the only way to get to the bottom of it is to book it into the dealer, and let him have it over night so they can try it cold first thing.

Did you get any errors from ECU?
