Red number plate

Featured Replies

Driving along last night, I discovered that Cruise wouldn't engage. Whilst trying to sort it out, the guy behind caught up, and I noticed he had a red front number plate. Then the truth dawned - a quick tap on the brakes and his number plate went back to white and cruise was functioning again.

Anybody else had a sticky brake light switch on a Fabia vRS?

Yes, I had this when I first picked the car up from new. Well, it was actually some cylinder somewhere that wasn't releasing.

Pretty shoddy PDI if you ask me as the brake lights weren't working at all! Also the cruise control wouldn't disengage by using the brakes unless you really braked hard and the rear brakes were sticking.

Wasn't happy (could have been pretty dangerous) but they replaced the party in about 10 mins the first workday afterwards while I waited and without an appointment.

Mine's a 54 vRS, reg'd end October; not sure when it was built.

I think the brake light switch is a known problem .

I've had a faulty clutch switch that sometimes stopped cruise engaging on my octy , but that was swapped under warranty after 40k miles.
