Tyre recommendations?

Featured Replies

As the previous owner thought that it was a good idea to fit the wrong size tyres all round to my 1.9Tdi, I thought that I would start this thread to ask what people would recommend as a replacement, bearing in mind that the tyres all have decent amounts of tread on them, and don't do anything silly on braking or in the rain.

I know that 195/65/15 is the size to go for, and I have been reading up about Barum tyres (which strangely enough I used to use decades ago for cycle racing - they were brilliant). When you go on other forums, people will say - "Oh you have got to have Toyo Proxes/Yokohama" - but I want them to last, be safe and be quiet.

So, come on folks, your suggestions please.

Andy

I've got 195/65/15 goodyear nct 5 from the factory ....

They tend to loose grip easily and also result in quite alot of under steer above a certain speed ....

But if you are looking for a quiet comfortable soft ride look no further .. I've had a few sets of performance rubbers before ...but these tyres on the comfort front are quite good ... And also these are the only comfort options (available in India) with a V speed rating ..

(NOTE - Skoda India gives nct5 on the octavia + superb so they would be safe obviously)

Also I've heard that Michelin mxv8 (I think they are called- energy series) are a good balance ... But are only available in 205/65/15 spec I think (confirm with your nearest michelin dealer)
