Parking sensor test

Featured Replies

How do you check if a sensor is working? I have some and want to find the good ones, I don't have a car with them fitted so cant swap them around.

Mine detect people as they walk around the car (entertainment when bored waiting for SWMBO). Couldn't you temporarily wire them up (drill a hole/holes in a bit of wood to mount one/some) and just try putting something in front of them to see if they make a noise?

That would work if I had the Skoda system installed but all I have at the moment are some sensors.

Then don't waste time with them. Look for a decent complete kit and forget the Skoda system - the sensors fail way too often and new ones cost £105 +VAT!! That's at least two complete aftermarket kits for the price of one sensor.

Of course, if you just want to sort out the good ones so you can sell them rather than fit them yourself that's a different matter. Offer them to someone local at a pre-arranged price, to be tested on their car before they buy?
