Columbus hidden menu/firmware upgrade

Featured Replies

Evening all,

I'm after a little advice regarding upgrading the columbus firmware and maps data.

The columbus system in my 09 superb only has the 4 digit postcode function.

I read that the V7 of the maps gives the full 7 digit function. So after purchasing it and installing it, I still only had the 4 digit function as before.

I then found out be surfing the netm that it is the firmware that needed upgrading to give the 7 digit postcode function?

Having seen how to find the hidden test mode menu by holding the setup button, I thought I would give it a try. No matter what instructions I follow, I cannot seem to access the hidden menu apart from the radio menu "FM, AM, DAB", so cannot see what firmware I have installed in the columbus unit.

I have now got the V8 maps but not installed.

Obviously I must be doing something wrong.

Can the unit just be upgraded to the the latest firmware or does it have to be done in stages?

The car is in for service at the dealers next week...... would they upgrade the firmware for free?

Any pointers would be appreciated

thanks

The hidden menu needs to be activated with VCDS before you can see them, this is not done as std.

Providing the Columbus is the genuine one fitted to your car from new then you should have no issues in updating the FW.

I updated the FW before the maps, so you may need to reinstall your later maps again afterwards?

Thanks for that gizmo. That explains why I have been button pressing with nothing happening.

The headunit is the original one which came with the car.

Would you happen to know what the latest firmware version is?

Where I can get it from and how to install it?

One thing I don't want is to end up with a vw front screen or something, so I presume there are Skoda specific versions to download somewhere?

Cheers

Ask your dealer to update the FW when its in for service.

I bought my 2009 Elegance in December, one of the conditions was they had to update firmware (for 7 digit postcode) and install V7 maps. Takes about 50 minutes

Took car for service ( not at hayselden Skoda as their service department couldn't give me a price for a service as they didn't know they made a 3.6, then asked if it was petrol or diesel???? Didn't install confidence at all and never rang back as promised )

Bickerton Sheffield were spot on on all levels. All updated and now have full postcode option as well as speed limit displayed, which I wasn't expecting.

Has to go back though as they confirmed a slight fault with the DSG box. The control unit is about 2k so glad I got it in before the warranty runs out.

Thanks for your help guys
