APEX sports dampers. Any good?

Featured Replies

Are these APEX shock absorbers any good when matched to Eibach lowering springs on a standard Octavia (Tdi 140) estate?

Or would it be better to stick to tried & trusted Bilstein B4's?

Only asking as the Apex ones state they are "uprated, shortened and designed to specifically work with lowering springs" and I'm about to have Eibach lowering springs (-32mm from standard) fitted.

I know that the Bilsteins will be OK with this degree of lowering, but was wondering if the APEX ones would be a better option. (And they are red to match the springs - but I'll by for engineering & driving reasons not for looks).

Any thoughts?

They also do a bilstein b4 sports version if that helps you decide?

Really? I can't find anything about that on their website...

With a minimal drop (32mm max) on a standard car, would it be worth going for a shock absorber designed for lowered cars or sticking with a standard set?

APEX were the only ones that I could find today that didn't break the bank and stated that they were for lowered cars. And I was hoping to get 25% off with the Briskoda discount, but these shocks are not included in that offer. :(

Did you get the APEX? ~If so how are they?

Haven't got anything as yet! Still trying to find out if there is any benefit in 'sport' dampers (for heavily lowered vehicles) over standard dampers (for slightly lowered cars) when I'm only lowering by 32mm (within the range of standard dampers).

Still undecided as to whether to get any new dampers or not as my current ones (although high mileage at 110k miles) seem fine according to the checks I have been given.

Also would be good to see if anyone has any experiences as to how these might compare to Bilsetin B4's.

I'd stick with billies - b4 standard - b6 sportier

Or if you can find a set get eibach dampers (made by kw and matched to the springs) - discontinued I think - try motorsportworld - I got a set of 4 for £350 for my old alfa gta
