Removing rear wiper cover on Octavia I

Featured Replies

I have a 57 plate Octavia (Which I think makes it an Octavia I. In common with a number of people in this forum, my rear washer has stopped working. A number of threads indicate that a good clean of the nozzles may solve the problem and I think his might be the problem in my case as the flow trickled to nothing over a period of time and I have no wet patches in the car. To do this it is neccessary to remove the wiper cover, but mine seems to be stuck fast. If I pull it up the wiper spindle move with it. Does anyone have a tip on how to remove the wiper cover?

The little flip up cap you mean ??

The rear wiper is held on by one bolt (10mm. Socket iirc) which has a black cap on top of it.

Prise the cap off with flat head screwdriver, undo the bolt.

To remove the wiper arm you just need to pull from widest part at the base, straight up (at 90 degree angle to rear windscreen).

Mine needed liberal amounts of wd40 as it had seized up and the aid of some mole grips.

Try not to wiggle the wiper arm around to free it so you don't damage the spindle.
