potential vrs tdi owner needs help

Featured Replies

hi every one . I'm just looking to get a bit of information about the fabia vrs.

i have a budget of around £5000-£6000 and ideally i am looking to purchase the car from a dealer so i can finance the car or if i can sort a loan out i will buy private

so what is the basic spec of a vrs and what are the best optional extras to look out for when buying.

i would like a vrs with extras such as cd changer, hid's and cruise control although cruise control is not a necessity as i can have it retro fitted . so how hard would it be to find a vrs with that spec

which is the best place to have a re-map done i have heard shark performance are the best and also revo are good but people say they have had a torque spike from the revo map and it knackers the clutch far quicker also how much is a remap these days ?

also is there any differences in the engine when comparing a 53 plate to a 56 plate i have heard the later engines produce more power standard .

if any of you can help me and answer some of these questions i would be very thankful cheers

oh one last thing is there any common problems with these that i will be able to spot when viewing them like bushes of engine problems cheers

Basic spec is: No leather, CD Player, Aircon, leccy front windows, ASR, no sunroof, no adjustable height passenger seat, no box under drivers seat.

Micro-dot, Satnav, Xenons and leather are by far the best OE's in my opinion.

This depends on how hard you're willing to look/travel. If you cant be arsed, very. TimVRS has one of the best spec'd ones i've seen featuring pretty much every optional extra going.

Shark or Revo seem to be best. I have a Dave Wishheart[sp?] map... its ok, but people dont reccomend him much.

Yes, there are different engine codes, a simple search will tell you the differeces in the ABT engine.

Clutch slip, leaky doors and bushing problems seem to be the most common ones I see on the forum but look at the "extremlely useful fabia thread" for more info.

Excuse my spelling... I just cant be arsed checking it.

Hi Tez

welcome - most of the answers you are looking for can be found on here by searching for the topic -

The vRS SE (Special Edition) came with most of the extras I believe

you'll find a lot of differing opinions regarding MAPs - if yoy are going down that route why not consider buying one already done - there are usually some on the for sale board or check ebay and ask on here if it belongs to anyone - most members on here seem to look after their car so you may get a good one

The later models have a BLT engine as opposed to the ASZ of earlier models - I'm not techie so can't tell you much else

common problems can be found by searching that topic as loads of previous posts on that

hope this helps a little - people always happy to give advice here but searching beforehand often helps

cheers
