Clutch life on mk1 octy vrs

Featured Replies

Anyone no the life of a clutch on a mk 1 octy vrs my cars done around 66 thousand now just feels like it starting to not pullo

Think they last pretty well, clutch wear is something the varies from car to car and depends more on the driver, so is hard to say

My clutch went last month. 106,000miles. I just upgraded it to the Vr6 Clutch kit and G60 flywheel.

As Raf_ said all depends on the driver, any mods.

My VRS cluch died at 82k, spent most of its life before i got it doing short journeys and owned by a women,

I think i finished it off getting it remapped altho it was quiet heavy since i got it

got my vrs when it had 6k on the clock, got it remaped at about 20k now on 95k and still fine,as said depends how its been treated :)

Yep mine's still fine at 106,000km. Remapped at about 16,000km

Theres no lifespan its all to do with driving style and driving conditions

Mines at 66k is like brand new! Soft as a feather but still has a nice bite to it! Grrr

I don't rag the car I drive it normal everywhere!! I have a little blast when I see a Chav ????,

What's a good clutch to go on the car and do I need a replacement dual mass??

I work in a spares shop so can get hold of some clutches like trw, Valeo and that but what's the best to get ?

these will have LUK as standard i would think. same as a golf etc. 99.99999999 times out of 100 if a car with a DMF cam in the garage for a clutch, it would need a DMF with it too. i would not change 1 without the other.

Paid £400 for a LUK DMF and clutch for my bora. then fitted it myself.

New dmf only required if its rattling /giving bad vibes off

Engine note would change when dipping clutch if its on its way out

yes.. but if a clutch is worn it can distort the face of the dmf, heat creating tiny cracks and raised spots. your not gonna want to put your new clutch onto that, and a DMF cannot be skimmed like a solid 1 can.

Clutch was still alright on mine when I sold it with 140k on the clock, mostly motorway mileage before I had it and I treated it well while I owned it. I think the new owner has done the SMF conversion since though.

149k on my first one and i only changed it due to it slipping but it turned out it was the clutch master that was causing the slip.

the actual clutch had plenty of life left in it.

I did smf conversion when my clutch died, my flywheel wasn't actually bad but am not a fan of them tbh, always think clutch felt vaige

Now have a g60 flywheel and sachs VR6 clutch, pedal is now so much lighter and engine is alot more rev happy and i don't have any more vibration than i had before even with superpro'd dogbone mount

Would a g60 and vr6 fit on my 2007 vrs dsl 2.0l octavia estate just been quoted 1300 from a main dealer to sort

Thanks in advance

I doubt it but theres probably an option for the mk2,

Ask in the mk2 section.

£1300 !! try an indy garage !!
