Updated Columbus firmware - lost voice control

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I made the mistake of upgrading the firmware of my unit to 4020 (There seems to be only 1 available which is the modified one) yesterday The navigation input does appear to be faster but I have now lost voice control of the Columbus in that when I press the speeaker button nothing happens (no beep). I was on version 3984.

I also noticed that the hardware version in the menu has changed from 3T0035680E to C

Does anyone know how I can get the voice control working and whether the change from E to D matters.

Thanks in advance

David

Strange, I upgraded to 4020 and have full voice control over sat nav and telephone as normal, my hardware revision has become HW05 from HW 04 with a suffix of B

you might need to have it re-enabled using VCDS.

Thanks, I reverted to 3984 and now working ok. I will try again at the weekend.

Updated from 3984 to 4020 no problems, voice control ok. Only lost my custom boot logo.... defaulted to original Skoda display.

Cannot see any difference in performance/ interface.

My reason for trying update was because of ongoing problems with Media In Motion DVB-VG5 TV system.... TV system failing to recognize the majority of touch screen controls from the Columbus system.... Made no difference.

Original VCDS log for nav system....

After software update....

Still cannot see any difference with new update!

  • 1 year later...

I also lost voice control (intermittently), though not with a f/w update but after installing Premium BT.

Sometimes it works OK, but other times when I press the mic button nothing happens. The only way I've found to get it back is to unplug the BT module, then do a 3 button reset of Columbus. A straight reset with BT still connected is no use.

With the BT unplugged voice control is fine.

That would seem to indicate it's the BT affecting things.

Anyone else had this?

Seems it might be related to having voice enabled in both Columbus and BT. ?????

Checks on-going....

Re-coded, all seems fine now (tnx Eddie-NL).
