Engine Missing When Cold

Featured Replies

No, it's not been nicked, but recently it seems like the engine misses a beat a couple of times when first starting out on a journey. We have a 1998 1.3ltr fuel injected Felicia.

It seems to be at lowish revs when one takes ones foot off the accelerator. There's a drop in revs and then everything is back to normal. It doesn't do it on every journey. It seems to occur when one is pootiling around town at low speeds.

My wife's not noticed it when she's driving and I wonder if it my be me. Perhaps I'm touching the pedal and the car lurches a little until the revs pick up more. The tickover is very low on a Skoda and it feels like the engine is about to stall but then it's running again.

Once the engines warm it doesn't happen again,.

Any tips would be most welcome.

Try giving the throttle body a good clean.

^ +1. Tuning off engine within say a minute or so of first starting doesn't help either. My old Felly hated it on the rare occasion I did it.
