Dripping

Featured Replies

This doesn't happen all the time, but when I turn the car off there is a dripping noise from the rear offside near the petrol tank. It is quite loud, but there is no sign of any leakage/dripping. Sometimes it happens during a long journey, but sometimes it happens on my way home - about 15 miles at 50mph normally. No performance issues and it doesn't happen all the time.

Any idea's?

Water in the doors? Blocked drain holes?

Water in the spare wheel well?

No idea really so just suggestions.

The sound sounds like it is coming from the fuel tank, but doesn't always happen. Doesn't need to be a rainy day for it to occur.

I had this a few weeks back. Not noticed it again since and was after a long drive (with lots of heavy braking - behind an over cautious caravan at easter). I assumed something had just got hot and was cooling off.

Tbh it sounded more like a bubbling over than a drip, but would assume it was the same as you experienced. Could possibly be the fuel breather?

As thewill just said maybe something cooling off at the rear like brakes or as said fuel tank breather as its coming from that side.
