Ceiling on MAF readings?

Featured Replies

Checking through my Vag-Com logs to see what effect my new exhaust was having, I found that the maximum MAF value for my (un-remapped) Fabia vRS was 1249.5 mg/stroke with the Cupra intake on.

With the standard intake, the maximum MAF was 1249.5 mg/stroke.

I smelt a rat and checked some more logs.

With the standard intake, filter and exhaust the maximum MAF reading was ... 1249.5 mg/stroke.

Am I missing something here, or:

Does 1249.5 simply mean "lots and lots of air, dunno how much but it's a lot"?

Is this a limit of the MAF - e.g. once the hot wire has been cooled, it can't get any cooler?

Is this a limit of Vag-Com 5.1?

Anybody else come across this?

Its either the maximum range for the ECU or the maximum output of your MAF sensor (Which incidentally drifts down with age causing "loss of power" symptom). Every digital/analog sensor/system has a maximum....

In any case, isn't it nice to know all that expense and pratting about has given you ....zero increase in [max] power (fueling)...:squint:

Ah but the fun is in how you get to max power - you virtually never use all the power you've got (not for sustained periods) anyway.

MAF reading is in grams per second so I think you are looking at the wrong data.
