'09 Octavia VRS: Rear Washer, spray leak into Driver's Footwell

Featured Replies

I have only just bought my car, and have only been on the forum for a couple of weeks, and have come across an issue with the Rear Windscreen Washer Jet which hopefully someone may be able to help shed some light on.

I have searched various other 'leaking rear washer' threads on the forum, but none seem to mention the same issue I am experiencing, hence my post.

When I try and use the Rear Window Washer Jet, Screen Wash is actually spraying / leaking down into the Driver's Footwell from behind the Brake / Accelerator Pedals. I had a quick look when I got home from Work, but it was starting to get dark, and there isn't a huge amount of room to get my head into the footwell along with a dirty great torch!.

It was mentioned on other threads that leakage into the Passenger Footwell was quite common, but saw no other occurrences of a leak in the area I have.

I am thinking that the obvious place to start checking tomorrow is the Firewall / Bulkhead for any signs of a loose or 'popped' connection, but as the Car is new to me I am a bit 'in the dark' for the time being to be honest!.

If anyone else has indeed encountered a similar issues I would very much appreciate any advice / pointers on the routing of the offending pipework!

Thanks, and best regards,

Gav

Hi

I found, whilst fitting a towbar, that the pipe is actually inside the wiring loom. That is, in amoungst the wires and all taped up. So if you're looking under the dash it might not be that easy to see/find.

If you do find a leak, Skoda do a patch (different types for corrugated or plain pipe). Alternatively, mine had had a new pipe run from the pump through the firewall, along the dash and then back to the rear nearside along the sill.

Hope that is some help.
