Mufflerectomy silly quotes

Featured Replies

Just rang local powerflow and got quoted 40/50 quid for what I wanted and I said I'll pop in

Go in and he says 230 then I said I don't want a bak box so he said about 140 depending on tip I said I wana keep my own tip and he said yeah 140 then

What should I expect to pay for it??

£60-80 seems to be the average price on here

I paid £80 with a tip :) from my local powerflow, go elsewhere dude.

I ended up doin my own sort of.

For 60/80 is that with 2 and half inch bore from the cat or is it just backbox removal?

Does anyone know of any body down by west midlands that would do me a good deal ??

just backbox removal that was and it was 2.5"

So was it from the cat at 2.5 bore or just right at end and cutting backbox and replacing with a pipe

it was joined just in front of the rear axle.

Theres a place called MIJ and another place called k'ford tyres. Ive had my exhausts done at kford a few times fir very resonable prices. MIJ is meant to be really good quality work.

I went to kford tyers for my first quote I might go in and get him to propley explain to me with prices and stuff

i got payed £60 from my local pflow, they said it would be more if i wanted my original tip as they would have to use a y section to join it to the single pipe which involves more welding.

What did u get done joe was it just back box replace with a pipe keeping everything else?

yes back box was cut off from the rear of the axle and i had a 2.25 pipe and oval tip. would of cost the same for 2.5 but i wanted to keep the bore the same through out the system.

What would be diffrance of upgrading the bore?

Sound really and if you go for a 2.5 big bore down pipe in the future you dont have to have another mufflerectomy made

they said nothing really as your taking that huge box away and replacing with a just a pipe with .25 difference to each other, wich is 6.35mm nothing if you think about it. They said that you would never notice it while driving.

thats a good point actually, if i go bigger turbo i would want a bigger down pipe and decat, so would be a good idea if you are thinking the same.

i bought a full exhaust with mufflerectomy mod already done. But it had been bodged where the y pipe connected original tip. So i cut it of just before it split into two. Bought 0.5m of stainless off ebay (£10), used wat was left of y pipe as a sleave to slot new pipe in.

Welding rods again off ebay (£1.50 for 10), used two car batteries to weld it on.
