Yeti on Bio-Diesel

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever considered this or had any experience regarding the long term effect of using such fuel?

Would it reduce performance and what about warranty?

There appears to big big saving to be made but I don't know if I would like my Yeti to smell like a chip shop. :giggle:

VW & Skoda are just two examples of German manufacturers who took the somewhat unique step of approving 100% RME (Biodiesel) use in cars manufactured between 1996 and 2005, in fact Skoda extended that warranty to 2006!

On the inside of my filler flap I have a warning sticker = NO BIO DIESEL

Elsbeth UK told me they are developing a veg oil kit for the euro 5 vag engines but would not confirm when it would be available. I understand it to require motet testing as it is more challenging than the 1.9rfid kit.

I suspect the problem with biodiesel in VAG engines with DPF is the potentialy higher ash content - klller for the DPF.

Yes you correct, the reason for this is that biodiesel burns at a lower temp than retail pump diesel, the way round it is to remove the DPF unit or run at high revs to increase the exhaust temp so the DPF is in recupe mode, keeping it clean

I'll only get sent to the corner if I make any comment about the best oil for a VAG.
