MOT Fail + advice

Featured Replies

Hi All

Just got the car back from the testing station. It failed but was not that bad

Nearside front track rod end ball joint has excessive play (thats the left side right?) and this part ?http://www.eurocarpa...1f648735

And also failed on the cv boot. the person who is going to replace it advised to get a universal one that you glue ? anyone know what that is. Below is all I could find.http://www.eurocarpa...594562e1

OH and it failed on the parking brake lever. (just needs adjustment)

got quoted £60 plus parts to fix. Sound ok?

Had a few Advisory's as well. (will do these when i have time)

N/s O/s coil spring corroded

rear silencer split and corroded

center silencer split and corroded not leaking

engine oil leak ( never noticed any loss tho)

Slight Play nearside front inner antirool bar bush

slight corrosion to power steering pipes

nearside and offside rear shocker and outer caseings broken away from main body

Phew :)

hi,

track rod end is the passenger side and isnt a big job. 10min most of the time.

cv boot dont use the glue ones they rubbish and come apart easy, either get a universal stretch boot and use a cone to slide it over the cv joint or buy the boot for the car and knock the cv joint off. again not a big job. 30min max

handbrake either free sticky caliper or like you said little adjustment on handbrake

£60 not to bad, depends on where your from really

the corrosion on pipes, exhaust and springs are abit silly to advise on, nothing to worry about there.

if your not hearing any bangs, noises id leave the anti roll bar rubber till it gets worse.

got another year out of the scoda :)... the anti roll bar rubber needs doing.

when I had the wheel off I am surprised it passed on the brakes. But off to eurocarparts now to pick them up

Hope you remembered the discount to reserve online :)

Seconded, the split ones are awful.

Thirded. Avoid them would be my advice.

Handbrake- if taking drum off, lubricate the shoe junction ,to remove any chance of sieze up

yep 30% :) £38 +change for a full set of disks and pads... Ordering some more parts today just to get the odd job finished. (anti Roll bar bush and reverse sensor switch) ordered the wrong switch as there are 2 different ones.

Handbrake all I had to do was adjust it. The shoes prob need changing at some point later in the year

I don't think the strech boots go that large (VRS)

they fit ok, the boots as huge! lol

fitted them to vrs's before.

Have used stretch boot on the wifes Almera but you might as well pull the shaft so you can check you no dirt in the cv joint and pack well with grease - link below
