Featured Replies

Hi people, long time no post! My diesel trucks clutch wont work. Cable is fine and I can change gears when the engine is off. It will only start in gear. pedal feels very light. The clutch wasnt slipping beforehand. Any ideas?

New clutch O'clock!

Doesn't a cltch wear out slower than that, with a bit of slippage? I've never had one go before.

Sounds like the release mechanism or part of the cover plate is broken. You'll have to drop the box to check.

Any wonderous tips on fitting a new clutch that wont be in the Haynes manual? Any bits its good to have on standby which I may overlook? I've found a cluch kit at europarts for £60, bargain? or better price elsewhere? ANy help would be ace!

No tips really, just need to make sure you have got the friction plate properly aligned when you fit the pressure plate, otherwise you won't get the box on. If it's aligned 100% then it's a piece of cake. It's a fairly light box, about as easy an FWD box you'll get to do, I think. Normally they will wear out and slip, but I've had a couple which have just given up the ghost - both times the pressure plate had died, one in fairly short order after fitting it (lasted about 200 miles, including a 60 mile tarmac rally).
