Thought I'd better introduce myself as I'm sure I'll be asking some really stupid questions soon enough,

I'm Iain, stay near Falkirk and I have a bad tendancy to ruin my car if I'm allowed anywhere near with anything resmbling a tool.

Just brought my "new" 2006 Fabia VRS home from the garage yesterday. It's an upgrade from a 1.8 TDDI MK1 Focus so there's a bit of a performance gain .

Before that I ran a Volvo 854 T5 which has been breathed on significantly (ex-police), which I miss but had to get rid of as I was getting 15mpg! Hopefully I'll do better with the Fabia!

Tempted by a ReMap, infact very tempted by the Shark STS or Superchips Bluefin if they are available for this car however to start with I'd only owned the car for 3 hours and I had a good amount of the dash off to change the head unit (cut hands and lots of swearing). Four hours later and it's not in properly but I had to get food and bed, project for this weekend I think - looks like the glovebox is coming out!

Oh dear - and I promised the missus I wouldn't pull this car apart - she wasn't happy when she got home and found me swearing at the new car with bits of it all over the drive.

Well it's all in - got the missus to help, small hands and all that.

The forums were invaliable as both the glovebox and centre airvents had to come out. I never want to do that again! I even got the mic for the handfree above the rear view mirror by running the cable through the dash, up the A piller and under the headlining.

Unfortunately I didn't plan it out - driving to Asda afterwards I've just noticed the mic is blocked when you put the sun visors down. Ah well will have to pull a bit more cable through and put further forward.

Also there's quite alot of blood behind the dash!
