NCB and Claim, help!

Featured Replies

I have a claim in 2009, at the time i had 4 years NCB, 2 from the insurer and 2 from a different company. When i started my Octy insurance i thought i had lost them all due to this claim but someone has now told me some company's dont take them all off you?

Any idea's?

You lose 2 years per claim.

You lose 2 years per claim.

That's my experience.

When you finished with the previous insurer you should have got the remaining no claims detailed on some paperwork as the new insurer is sure to want proof of NCD.

I lost three years NCB when I wrote my car off in 2008.

As far as I"m aware, if you have a claim, you now have no NCB because you have had a claim. Don't think any years comes into it. Unless you had them protected?

Wrong. at least for some companies

I used to work for an insurance company an they used the 1 claim + 2 years NCB loss rule.

Just sat and worked out what NCB i should of have before the claim and after,

I have 2 years with one car then 1 year with the car i had the claim in..this is where it gets confusing...

Basically i had a bump in a car park but he said it was fine as it was only a small mark on an aging car and the damage to mine was very minimal, so no insurance involved. I sold the car on the date of renewal of the insurance as i was moving out and needed the money, so i still earned that NCB for that year. Then 1 month later this man who i bumped into claimed, long story short he won.

So at the point of selling my car and the insurance expiring i had 3 years (not 4) NCB will the company see it is this? As a claim was not made till after i had been awarded that NCB for that year or becuase the accident happened while it was still insured with them therefore i should not of received that NCB?

:whew:

You need to sort this with your insurer before they do and end your policy - which inst something you want.
