ECS stage 1 Brake upgrade

Featured Replies

That's a lot of money for what's effectively just a couple of brake discs and carriers though. You could buy some 323mm Leon discs and get some caliper carriers fabricated yourself for about half the price:

Putting the caliper further out on a bigger disc will improve the braking but you'll only get a vast improvement if you go from the standard single-piston VRS calipers to the 4 pots off of a Cupra R or 6 pot Brembo/AP calipers.

Cupra R Brembos usually go for about £500 which is about what that ECS kit costs:

323mm discs and calipers would also need spacers on the 17" spiders or upgrade to 18" wheels of some description so need to factor those in as well

Personally I would either go for R32 brakes second hand or the Cupra R Brembo's as they can be picked up far cheaper second hand and when it comes to disc replacement time it's going to be a ton cheaper!

If you're set on brand new discs and calipers have a look at the Tarox, HiSpec or AP ones.

cheers guys. i will have a good hunt for the others. looking to do it all in 6 weeks.

I had factored in the Alloys, going for a set of 18" wolfrace. I Have seen a nice black set with red rim. to go with the red engine bay SWMBO has decreed that colour.

Part of the conditions of being allowed to mod the family motor.

Ditto my r32's cost me 300 as long as they come with useable discs as they can cost anywhere upwards of 150 for non genuine, genuine discs are like 200 a side lol
