New Tyres and Badges fitted next week

Featured Replies

Hi Folks,

I've booked in our Superb for next week, to have 4 new tyres (Toyo C1-S, bought last year from CamSkill) fitted by our main VW dealer (Pullman's in Durham)

They are charging me £10+ vat each (which i think is good! - KwikFit and TyreSpot round here are mid-late teens!)

I also mentioned badges, they checked, and my car is part of the campaign to re-new the badges, so they are getting some in, and doing this at the same time.

So far, once again, great customer service from Pullman VW.

That is a good rate for fitting - are the badges being swapped as they are delaminating? Or are they fitting new style ones?

Badges have got a white worm, and Skoda have released a Campaign to replace some Superb and yeti badges. - So, i asked, and they said yes, so why not!

Bought the C1s as the reviews are good, and should suit the car over the T1r's - ie, made for large luxury cars, quiet with good wet and dry handling.

Had my badges replaced a couple of weeks back - like for like (not new style).

Hi,

had my badges replaced last week... white worm & confirmed there is an advised replacement due at next service anyway... but I also took it in for a couple of other things too.. all fairly minor really but might be worth keeping an eye on:

1. dash mounted air vents for front windscreen keep lifting slightly so a new pair fitted & fixed under warranty

2. Passanger side seatbelt release button (the red button) had a crack in it (I think it was too brittle & decided to crack a few months back - fixed under warranty

3. Columbus - in the past 6 months it has occasionally (4-5 times) just turned itself off & then takes 2-3 mins to reboot (never noticed it do it in the first year). I was very lucky it did it again when then had it in the workshop, I was advised that there was a software update & this has been installed, if any further issues arise I should let them know.

& I think the MOST serious one...

4. Please check if the leading edge of your boot/tailgate is rubbing against the "ledge"/lip bit of the bumper (in the corners, ie. far left & right sides). It is not in contact when stationary but I assume when driving around the body/panels move and they must rub against each other.

My dealer was (after a little discussion) happy to state that there was scope to adjust the bumper and this has now been done - they take bumper off, adjust ie. lower it & then replace. They didn't touch up the trailing edge of the boot but I'm happy to do this.

I must confess I'm quite impressed with the service & hopefully it will be a pleasure to own for a few more years... :sun:

 They should have repaired the bumper as a matter of course as part of the fix.

I would be forced to agree - if their is damage, not caused by yourself or a collision, then it is a bodywork / paint issue, i would have thought!

Hi,

I won't argue but it is out of sight (you'll only see it when lifting the tailgate & you know where to look) I have some touch up paint as I have another scratch to try and make amends with (my own fault doooh!)

On the actual bumper the slight abrasion marks can be polished out, done this a few times already and acceptable to me.

I had the same issue on a Golf and have seen a number of other VW's with the same problem but VW's customer service was pants after 9 months there was still no acceptance of liability or inclination to do anything about it - as it was a company car I just let it go in the end but advised the lease company, I don't suppose they will have bothered about it either.

maybe I'm letting the off too easy but they have carried out the mechanical adjustment, it won't get any worse (I expect) and as they've not quibbled and done everything promptly I was happy not to become an irritating customer. I must admit I've been quite impressed with then (Lookers, Stockport) to the extent that I would say for a car dealership, they've impressed me so far. I'm sure there will be other opinions but that's mine. Cheers for your comments.

So tyres and badges were fitted on Thursday.

Time taken, was HUGE, as in 2 and bit hours (yawn) but free WiFi and multiple complimentary drinks relieved a bit of boredom.

It was lashing down on Thursday, so not much chance to test new tyres - but, they were MUCH quieter than the old Conti's.

I had it to work with me yesterday, a 100 mile round trip in the dry. again, very quiet at speed, very stable, but dry-traction not quite as good (yet) as the Conti's.

Badges, as has been said before, are replaced like for like and not the "new" style.

So, £48 inc vat, to fit 4 new tyres (supplied by me) replace badges, use their WiFi and be supplied with 2 cans of coke.

Happy!

Al.
