I was looking at getting a double din head unit on sale in halfords, any idea if it will work with my existing skoda octavia boot cd changer?

Looking at the spec I don't think you'll be able to control your CD changer from that, but with a USB input on the front you can load a massive amount of music onto a flash drive and you wouldn't miss your CD changer. However, it doesn't look like you can change the illumination on that stereo so it will stick out like a sore thumb, especially at night, and you'l need a new fascia or adpater to fill in the gap (the Skoda double din stereo front is bigger than a standard double din unit).

Nope, the only thing that can control the boot changer are OEM Skoda headunits. If you go aftermarket then you will lose use of the changer.
