Shortage of Octy IIs pushing prices up?

Hi,

I'm in the market for a new car and the Octy is top of my list. I desperately need one before June as I'm cuurently with a car (unless you count a 1992 corolla 1.3 auto as a car) and I am driving to France. I have therefore considered a 'nearly-new' from a main dealer. I'm after (minimum spec)

I have waited for since January for mine and I've just been told that it should be built this week then another 3 weeks for delivery? I've ordered the spec you want plus a few others. I know that when I went to the dealers he checked the computer for all new cars in stock for the UK that haven't been ordered, there was a few around but that was a while ago. Nothing to say your local dealer can't check, might be lucky a cancelled order etc. As I was told though, a dealer does not want a car with a big spec in his showroom for long as he has to pay. good luck though!!

Not sure if its affecting the deisel Octavia but some manfacturers are having engine delays due to teh company producing a micro particle filter unable to keep up demand - which is causing delays in car builds- might be why Skoda are offering 250 pounds of petrol with Petrol Octavias

I think if you go for completely standard spec you can get them in a reasonable time, but as soon as you add options you're looking at a minimum 3 month wait as they then have to order them from the factory.

Have to say it was worth the wait though  . Every time I drive it I love it more.

Have to agree with all the reasons given above, my local dealer offerd me a great deal on a 2.0 TDI Elegance with leather and 17's with sports sus. Unfortunately SWMBO insists on us having an estate so I had to pass on the deal :(

The partical filters are the problem with new 2.0 TDI's delivery as Volvo are having the same problem if you order a Euro 4 V50, if you order a Euro 3 V50 they can get them in a couple of weeks, shame a Euro 3 spec Octy isn't available

Just seen were youre located Jeff have you been to Renshaws in Nottingham? I was there last week and they have a new one in the showroom in Magic Black with beige leather, Maxi dot, multifunction wheel and sports suspension

They also had a Silver ex-demo with black leather and sports suspension.

I asked my dealer that question and they reckoned it was because no noe wanted the petrol engines as the diesels were much better. If the 2.0l fsi was a turbo then I may have been interested, but as it is not, it does not have the appeal of a tubo diesel.

I thought the whole delay thing was down to a fire where the diesel engines are made.

Thought the VAG group was playing catch up but unfortunately priority for the engines is Audi then volkswagen then skoda.

Probably wrong (as usual) :)

My stepfather has just been offered a rosso red 2.0 diesel octavia elegance, cloth seats 2,500 on the clock for 14000 and offered 10500 for his 2 yr old superb 2.5tdi comfort with leather

Told him to stick with the superb unless they come down to 12,000.

2.0fsi Elegence ordered 3rd April expected 10 June but might be pulled forward due to lack of disel engines

I'm ringing them now.... :D

edit: And I'm going to see it tomorrow, thanks for the heads up!

I am looking at getting a L&K Estae 2.0TDi + DSG + options for December delivery, (to still keep the Euro 4 3% co. car tax discount ;) ) and will probably order it in June/July, that is if Skoda UK actually release an official price & spec for it!!

Checking prices, it would appear that it should be possible to get around

Hi,

We went to see the car. It's almost perfect for what we want. Except for the beige leather and trim. Already there were scuff marks on the seat trim and its a showroom car. Although the colour looks a million dollars I can see myself buy it due to the fact that I will never be able to keep it clean. Unless of course you owners of cars with beige leather can convince me otherwise?

That's why I ordered my L&K with Black leather!! :D

John.

Jeff, I had a Rover 600 in dark blue with a light beige leather trim and my son was around 2 years old and it always cleaned up and looked nice, would avoid a light beige cloth though but leather is ok. Lets put it this way the beige leather was easier to keep clean than the silver cloth in the vRS

Thanks Darren. I think the main concern comes from the ivory (beige) carpet and lower plastic trim panels. I haven't ruled it out totally although. It's fair to say that it is as likely as Derby County winning the play offs and getting promotion to the premiership.... :)

You could always get them to change the carpet to black as part of the deal, think a few vRS owners have done that
