The turbo charge pressure regulator may be faulty on some Fabia, Roomster, Octavia and Yeti vehicles that have a 1.2-litre TSI engine. This may result in claims that the engine is not running properly, and may cause the check engine light to come on. To prevent this, the software for the engine control unit (ECU) must be updated, and a shim fitted.

When repairing the vehicle, ask the customer if the ECU has been tuned by an aftermarket company (chip-tuning). If so, explain that the software update will make the aftermarket chip tuning ineffective and that the ECU may even be damaged during the update as a result of the tuning. Ask the customer to check with the aftermarket tuner whether a software update is possible.

ŠKODA Auto and your company cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by updating the software, or by the update not being performed. Write this note on the order before the customer signs it.

Make sure all affected cars are checked and repaired during workshop visits or as part of their pre-delivery inspections (PDIs).
