Front wishbone rear bushes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Read a few bits on these bushes got an annoying squeak on my fabia vrs and when it looks to be coming from these bushes the arm is sliding in and out of the bush, when I put a bar on the wheel and try to tighten the nuts the wheel seams to have a lot I've forward n backward movement and it makes an horrendous squeak inside the car when driving becomes very annoying

Can you fit the cupra bushes without changing the front bushes to polly ones as seen on the how to guide? What advantages are there over the stock ones? Do I need to change left n right ones?

You can change the rear wishbone bushes without changing the fronts - depending on how worn the fronts are of course.

You do need to change both sides - else it'll cause uneven wear. Besides - if one is shot, chances are both are.

Advantages over the stocks are that there is a lot less play so you get a more direct steering feel, and sharper response turning in.

A lot of people go for poly bush over copra ones, slightly more expensive however lifetime guarantee and easier to fit, i have the rear ones now just waiting for the front wishbone front bushes to come through that i ordered :)

Do you have a link for where you bought yours from please.. mines squeaking too, f*ckin annoying!!

Cheers

If it's your bushes it'll be the rear ones, I've not read anyone mention the front ones wearing. What you do to one side you do to the other when it comes to tyres, suspension etc. I'd personally avoid cupra bushes and go with Powerflex, they're so easy to fit by comparison and require no special tools, they also have a lifetime warranty.

Get them off eBay, I presume yours is a vrs (can't remember if you said) the price was 47.90 with free p&p when I got them 2 weeks back, ok so yes you pay a bit more but I have brought 4 standard read wishbone bushes in 2 years costing £40 and wasting many hours of time not to mention many scraped nuckles, and also the powerflex ones come with a lifetime warranty and many people say they are far easier to fit than standard ones and even upgraded seat ones because they come in 2 parts. They are worth every penny in my books!

will check them out thanks again, oh and i sprayed my knackered bush with WD n had made it silent obviously got to dochsange them asap but to anyone who has the worlds most annoying squeek from these its a good tip :)

Powerflex are a 2 part bush, you put the outer section into the console then slot the wishbone with the second tapered end into the outer section. For final fit I used a pry bar as mentioned in the technical guides section to apply light pressure and it just popped in. The other option is a £70-80 tool or getting one made for £10-15. By the time you've spent £20+ on bushes, at least a tenner on a DIY tool and then found out how much of a ball ache the job is you may as well have spent a tenner more and done it in an hour. Also the oe bushes as pointed out above can fail, powerflex offer a lifetime warranty so that £10 extra really is worth it.

Have read the pivot points wear out on the power flex added to extra vibration via the cabin hence i decided to stick to OE.

Also had a local fabrication company make up a tool for less than a Tenner.
