New Vrs CR Estate advice required.

Featured Replies

My much loved year old Octy Vrs TFSI is going to a new home on Friday as I need better economy as my job now entails 25K miles per year of mostly commuting and I have done that in 12 months.

So, as a replacement I pick up another brand new Octy Vrs estate in black but diesel this time.

So advice required,

Best diesel fuel and is premium diesel worth it?

I have been offered the Williams ceramic coat, anyone had this and is it worth it?

I have taken out the 5 year 100K warranty but even so are there any issues on the diesel version?

I always used Shell V-Power in my CR but I can't honestly say that it gave better performance or economy.

DPF issues are less of a problem on the CR and with the sort of mileage you're talking about shouldn't be a problem. I had 2.5 years of trouble free motoring with mine.

Regarding the extended warranty it depends how much it costs. You may be worth saving the money and spending it if you need to. You also need to check what's covered under the extension and whether it is the same as the standard warranty.

I use any diesel where ever I am passing ,,,shell / asda / morrisons ect and never see any difference at all

the only issue I had was dpf at 500 miles to 1.500 miles but had none since and mine is all urban,,,,, the only other thing is the depletion of the front windscreen at the bottom about 1mm to 2 mm 75% along the bottom they will change it under warranty but dont know what to do!.

other than that its fine average about 43 urban and 55 on a long run with 13 stone dog in back and wife and son so very pleased

Thanks gents.

We have a LWB Shogun for the dirty stuff. The dog is only allowed in the boot if it is clean. Kids are never allowed to eat or drink in my car (12, 10,8) and the wife is told to stop playing with the climate control regularly.

On a fuel note, my present TFSI Vrs is run exclusively on V-power and it is quicker than a friends. Not sure about diesel though.

I only run my TSI on V-Power and it does make a difference.

I use Shell standard diesel and add millers additive to every tank. Personally I noticed a difference when I used it, so now use it to keep the system clean.

I only use Shell Fuel. Fuelsave or V-Power. I had to fill up at Asda once and noticed that i got about 70 less miles to that tank so can only think that the Shell Fuel is better. You don't need any additives with the Shell fuel as it has cleaners in it anyway.

I tried Millers but was never convinced it made a difference
